What a great start to a great year!

We had (self proclaimed) the “best” Spring training group ever 🙂 on Monday April 1st. We had almost 20 new people who came out and completed their volunteer training.

Our first 3 weeks of classes have been wonderful. Katie and Leslie are teaching our evening classes on Monday and Tuesday, and I am instructing our daytime classes for the various school groups and the PossAbilities clients.

So far, our clients have gone through evaluation, reviewed safety lessons around horses and started practicing the communication with their horse. And, lots of games have been introduced during class.

Our CD player in the barn gave out (after 12 years), but is has been replaced and we have music again. The music is a fun addition to classes, especially Leslie’s favorite – the Hokie Pokie.

We are thrilled to have our new volunteers, our “old” volunteers are our “regular” volunteers all here at the barn – having a great time with our kids (young&old). Soon, the weather will be nice enough to use the sensory trail – I am excited about that!

This week, DeeDee and Merit (our Norwegian Fjords) will be coming home. With this late spring/winter weather they have stayed at Katie’s a few weeks longer than usual but we are ready to transport them now. Janet’s friend Coleman is going to trailer them for us – if you see him say THANK YOU!!!

Last weekend we held our Annual Meeting at the Clarion Inn. It was great fun, and this year I went swimming – the pool was a wonderful addition to our day (the stretching is the best therapy after hip replacement surgery, I am a testimony to that!). The annual meeting also brought us in some money, thanks to ticket prices, table sponsors, the silent auction, the dessert auction and general donations of our supporters. The total profit (after all expenses) was over $1900!!! YAY!

We are ready for our summer session #1 to start the week of May 20th, and we could use a few more volunteers – so contact me if you are able to help out this year!

And, remember the Barn Dance is coming up – Saturday June 1st. Tons of Fun!!!
