Volunteer Training Dates

Each year there are several special dates scheduled for volunteer training.  These are normally held on an evening.   There is at least one training scheduled for each RideAbility session of Registered Group Lessons: Spring, Summer #1, Summer #2, and Fall.      We ask volunteers to fill out forms ahead of time (if possible) and be at the barn at 6:15PM (if possible).    The training will start with reviewing the required volunteer forms and will include a tour of the barn, a review of RideAbility philosophy and goals and end with sidewalker practice (walking next to a horse in the arena).   The evening training should be completed before 8:30PM.

The 2026 training dates for new volunteers are:

*A great introduction to our training procedures can start with viewing the Volunteer Training Videos on this website, even before you attend the volunteer training. (Look under the volunteer info tab for training videos).

If you would like to volunteer, but the above dates do not work for you we have alternative training times available.  Many volunteers have used the process of coming to the barn to observe a class and completing the Volunteer Training Checklist.  After this, the volunteer is able to sidewalk with an experienced volunteer to complete their training.
